Star Wars is an American epic space franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." The science fiction franchise comprised of movies, books, comics, video games, toys, and animated shows. Star Wars has become part of mainstream popular culture, as well as being one of the highest-grossing series of all time. Unlike other sci-fi/fantasy films Star Wars has a strong mythic quality alongside its political and scientific elements. It's heroes are also not militaristic types, but romantic individuals. The saga follows the struggles between the light and the dark, democracy and dictatorship. It portrays a world full of creative situations that face the same themes of problems we do. It has captured the minds of generations, because of its unique characters and some how a very relate able theme. Like the ones who understand the force, we must trust ourselves and our instincts. We have to be able to be confident in ourselves and what we know to lead us through life, sometimes we will be wrong but that is when we have to accept our mistake(s) and the help of others. We will all have to make tough decisions, whither its to the dark side or the light, and we have to be ready to make the best decision for ourselves. Like the Jedi, we shouldn't let ourselves be seduced by the things in life that can change who we are. Even though the Star Wars saga makes being on the dark side bad *ss, they never win as much as the light. Those on the dark side live a lonely life with no family or the feeling of love, they live to destroy and inevitably they destroy themselves. They chose (mainly the Siths) to get ride of the pains that come with life. For example Anakin Skywalker chose the dark side, because he didn't want to face the pain of losing his wife. After his decision he lost his wife and children, becomes more robotic than human and a very hated man. It just goes to show that you will have a better chance at a good life by living your destiny, which includes ups and downs rather than choosing the easy way out.

ReplyDeleteI recently saw the new Star Wars and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. I also learned that George Lucas has gotten a gross amount of money from not only the movies, but the advertising sold as products as well. He has made so many Star Wars themed products, even mascara, which is really surprising to me.
