Nike's new "Better For It" ad campaign is all about women finding
motivation when that sneaky little voice starts telling them that they
can't do it. I'm glad see a commercial that reminds us that everyone has insecurities and can be nervous to put yourself out there. It reminds women that the only thing holding us back is the fact that we care so much about what people think of us, and that causes us to criticize ourselves even more. We can be our own worst enemies, and we should stop
blaming others for being stifled by our own insecurities. The only thing holding hold you back is yourself.
Nike says the campaign is meant to support and motivate
women's athletic journeys. It's about "powering women to be better
through services, product innovation and athlete inspiration, motivating
each other to push to the next level," said the company. Nike is trying to get women into gyms and fitness classes, so that women a) can live healthy lives b) get women in the end to thank Nike for motivating them to go get healthy and c) Nike knows that most women "need" the essential clothing and equipment to workout in, so there first stop in the athletic journey would be Nike.
"The Better For It" campaign was definitely a home run for Nike. It was able to reach out to women in a completely new way. It was able to motivate women to stop listening to the negative voice inside them and go do what they want to.
I really liked this commercial because of how empowering it is. Also you said, everybody has an issue with insecurities and it effects our everyday lives. Even something as simple as going to the gym to work on yourself can be hindered by self judgement. From experience, I know that sometimes it's hard working out when you are surrounded by guys with huge muscles or other women with the "perfect body." I think this commercial is also pointing out that everybody is different and we all have our own paces so we should only focus on ourselves.
